I would not recommend Raid 5 for the Data directory if you are concerned about performance. Raid 1+0 will give you much better performance, but, the cost is that you give up half your disk space for redundancy.
I seem to remember some fact about comparing Raid 5 with 1+0. I think that Raid 5 performs 3 times as many write operations as 1+0 (could be read, I can't remember which!). Any how, I always build my Domino servers with the Data directory on a 1+0 set.
